About ExpertiseX

ExpertiseX is a free, self-paced self-study platform for U.S. Science Bowl preparation. It covers the three core high-school competitive science subjects — Physics, Astronomy, and Chemistry — with curated lessons and Science Bowl-difficulty practice questions.

How mastery works

Each subject is broken into ordered lessons grouped by unit. A lesson presents focused content, then a short quiz of 5 Science Bowl-level multiple-choice questions. Answering at least 80% correctly marks the lesson mastered and unlocks the next lesson in the sequence. Lessons that are not yet unlocked appear as locked until the previous lesson is mastered.

Identity and data

Authentication is handled by Aswin ID, the single sign-on provider shared across Aswin apps. ExpertiseX verifies the RS256-signed JWT (issuer https://id.aswinapps.com, audience expertisex) against the Aswin ID JWKS endpoint, exactly the same pattern used by APSnap. Progress is stored per-user, keyed on the Aswin IDsub claim.
